after missing all of 2004, Ellis has had a bit of trouble staying in the lineup everyday so far this season. when he has played, he's posted a career-best .295 batting average, but he gives so little other production that he isn't a super option even as a backup 2B right now. he might be okay in that role if he could stay in the lineup every day, but i wouldn't count on it.
