in case you hadn't heard, the AP reports, via ESPN.com:
| Quote: | | Chicago Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee broke two bones in his right wrist in a collision with the Dodgers' Rafael Furcal and is expected to be in a cast up to six weeks. |
initial reports indicate he could be out 8-10 weeks. of course, he's on Xach's team. other seemingly healthy stars on Xach's team that you should maybe be more wary of: Alfonso Soriano, Aramis Ramirez, Johan Santana and Felix Rodriguez. he's already taken care of Coco Crisp. _________________ i'm a worm, i can't tell my ass from my head. |

Lee had the best season of his career in 2005, blowing away his previous career highs in every single offensive category except stolen bases, where he still recorded 15 steals. he's been building toward this for awhile, so his year didn't come as a complete surprise, but he was so far above his career averages in certain categories that it would be hard to expect him to equal those numbers again next year. in particular, he had never hit above .282 before, so that .335 average stands out as an unrealistic expectation for next year. he's definitely a fine 1B option for next year, and is keeper worthy, for his fantasy value alone, but don't be too shocked if he doesn't start out next season looking like the D. Lee of 2005. _________________ i'm a worm, i can't tell my ass from my head. |
