After frustrating fantasy owners for the better part of two months, Furcal is finally starting to pay some dividends.
On May 25, SportingNews.com's Brendan Roberts reported that Furcal's K rate was more or less on track with his career averages, suggesting that Furcal's prolonged slump was little more than bad luck.
As if in direct response to that note, Furcal immediately went hot.
Furcal had a hit and a steal today to go with two runs. He now has a 6 game hit streak. During that stretch he has 7 steals, 6 runs and 5 rbi.
It's too short a sample to make any promises, but with or wthout the hitting, Furcal is on pace for 57 steals. That alone makes him worth the risk. He should be starting in all leagues. _________________ These are dangerous days

Furcal has some fantasy tools, but they fade when compared to some of the other players at a surprisingly strong fantasy position. he can help you in SB and runs scored, but his other categories have been too inconsistent to count on anything above average for shortstops. he's a starter, to be sure, but don't overrate him. _________________ i'm a worm, i can't tell my ass from my head. |
